Waamo Group ltd is committing to help the pastoralist community in East Africa adapt to the climate disasters that is plaguing them on regular basis with any of them contributing to the causes of this climate change.
We believe the best way for these communities to adapt and survive is to help them change their traditional way of life from roaming with their livestock in their vast range lands with diminishing pastures and carry capacity. And turning them into settled farmers practicing climate smart agriculture. Where they can rear livestock in a more modern, efficient method of zero grazing feedlots while growing enough food for their families and livestock.
We want to show them the way of farming by providing all the services they need to become successful farmers.

We will provide them with training including extension services, land use management and farm development, by helping them find ways to harvest the rainwater and utilize the underground aquifers that dot their landscapes.
We will help them improve the genetics of their livestock by importing and supplying the best breeds around the world and teach them how to cross breed with their animals.

We will also teach them how to practice agroforestry through the provision of certified seedlings for fruit trees that will earn them a good living while regenerating the degraded landscapes.

We plan to establish self-sustaining agricultural villages where we can bring our full array of services and products to train them and farm with them and then buy their producing to add value by establish food processing small industries in these hubs.
On the aspect of mitigation, we will bring the latest renewable energy technologies like solar, wind and mini hydro to generate enough power irrigation and other productive uses.
We will also discourage the rearing of cattle to cut the methane levels and help these pastoralists switch to goat rearing which is far much better for the environment and has better export markets in the middle east. Which is the traditional market for the local livestock.
